I knew I wanted to write and focus on something that I was truly passionate about, so the decision to focus on the inequalities faced by lower-income students within the public education system during the global pandemic, was the clearest and most obvious choice for me . As a first-generation, Mexican-American woman in higher education, I have always taken into account the privilege I have to be in the position I am today. With this privilege came the acknowledgement and understanding that many people do not have the same access to the resources needed to succeed in the public education system. After my research and interviews, I realized that in order to break the cycle of wealth and educational inequality, we must attack the root of the problem: the system as a whole. This is The Privilege of Online Learning, my senior capstone project.
